You probably didn’t know that April is Counseling Awareness Month!  The American Counseling Association has identified this month as a time to raise awareness in the community about the services professional counselors offer and the many benefits of counseling for all!

Here are some quick facts about mental health:

  •  Nationally, 42.5 million adults aged 18 or older experienced a mental health illness in the past year (SAMHSA)
  • 22 veterans commit suicide every day (Department of Veterans Affairs)
  • All Marketplace insurance plans are required to cover mental health and substance abuse services as an essential health benefit (healthcare.gov)
  • Nearly half of LGBTQ youth say they do not fit in in their community (Human Rights Campaign)
