You probably didn’t know that April is Counseling Awareness Month! The American Counseling Association has identified this month as a time to raise awareness in the community about the services professional counselors offer and the many benefits of counseling for all!
Here are some quick facts about mental health:
- Nationally, 42.5 million adults aged 18 or older experienced a mental health illness in the past year (SAMHSA)
- 22 veterans commit suicide every day (Department of Veterans Affairs)
- All Marketplace insurance plans are required to cover mental health and substance abuse services as an essential health benefit (healthcare.gov)
- Nearly half of LGBTQ youth say they do not fit in in their community (Human Rights Campaign)
You do not have to deal with problems on your own—counseling can help! Stay tuned this month for more information about how counseling can help you.
